East Palo Alto Music Festival

1175 Weeks Street, E. Palo Alto, CA

9/24/2022

Our very first OG Community BBQ was held on June 20, 2009 at Flood Park in Menlo Park, CA. Thirteen years later, Saturday, September 24, 2022, EPA-EMP Original Good was proud to have collaborated with Harvest Properties and we thank them and Kim Diamond, Managing Director of Development for their help and support with organizing the OG's Community BBQ for 2022 at the East Palo Alto Community Music Festival held at 1175 Weeks Street, E. Palo Alto, CA.  It was wonderful to be back in our "home town" this year and be a part of this fun, exciting, peaceful, successful, entertainment-packed event!!!!

There were food vendors, Lay M Low’s car show, BMX bicycle competition, a market place, community showcase, kid’s activities and entertainment. The headliner group was ConFunkShun along with Aja Vu, Soulcana, Rafa and Tebo’s Experience.

Special thank you to Mrs. Grant of the Senior Center in E. Palo Alto for allowing us to use their kitchen to cook the food that was served to the community for free. Thank you to all who donated cash or gift cards. Thank you to Eugene Jackson of "Live In Peace, Inc.” for all of your help and dedication in supporting us. Thank you to all who donated food and beverages: special thanks to Michael M. Mashack for donating 1/2 pallet of cases of water. He comes through every year with water! Special thanks to Helen R Smith for donating the delicious cakes and cookies from her company "Dirty South Desserts." Thank you to the volunteers who served food and helped with setup and break-down: Sonja Lewis-Rogers, Robert Shackleford and his friend Nate, Anita Warren, Carolyn "Bae" Powell, Scott Powell, Ronnie Jordan, Reginald Jordan, Rosalind Jordan, Adrian Perkins, and Pete Pitre. Thank you to OG members who continue to support us every year.

A special shout out to one of the original founders, Vernis James who continues to support us in whatever way he can. Thank you Victor Bailey for agreeing to photograph this event. And to anyone who we may have missed - Thank you so much! We know this year was a different kind of community BBQ compared to our past BBQs, but we hoped everyone enjoyed themselves!

PS: We had to bring out the "Big Red Beast" BBQ Grill to make this work! Courtesy of G Stacks Pits.
